Ok, occupancy taxes! These are typically collected on behalf of the property management company, on behalf of the owner, through the direct booking website or through VRBO.
Typically, although not always, Airbnb will collect and remit these without them hitting your books, so there's nothing you need to do. Very rarely VRBO will do that as well if they have a deal in place with the jurisdiction where the property is, but for the most part, VRBO does pass these taxes on, as well as any direct booking websites or any other OTA channels.
What we need to know is if the property management company is going to collect and pay these on behalf of the owner, or if they're going to pay and pass them back to the owners through the owner statement, in order for the owners to remit the taxes themselves.
